About Beverley Mayston
Creating a safe space for your journey to well-being.
My Approach to Counselling
I am Beverley Mayston, a dedicated and compassionate counsellor committed to providing a safe, confidential, and non-judgmental space for you to explore your thoughts, feelings, and experiences. My practice is rooted in a Person-Centred approach, meaning I believe that you hold the key to your own growth and healing. My role is to facilitate this process by offering genuine empathy, unconditional positive regard, and congruence.
I work with a wide range of issues, including (but not limited to):
- Anxiety and Stress
- Depression and Low Mood
- Grief and Loss
- Relationship Difficulties
- Trauma
- Low Self-Esteem and Confidence
- Life Transitions and Changes
- Work-Related Stress
My integrated approach draws from various therapeutic modalities to best suit your unique needs. While person-centred principles form the core, I may incorporate elements from:
- Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT): To help you understand the connection between your thoughts, feelings, and behaviours.
- Psychodynamic Therapy: To explore how past experiences might influence present patterns.
- Transactional Analysis (TA): To understand communication and relationship dynamics.
- Mindfulness-Based Approaches: To help you stay present and manage difficult emotions.
My Experience and Qualifications
I hold a Level 4 diploma in therapeutic counselling and am a registered member of the BACP. I adhere to their ethical framework, ensuring a high standard of professional practice and client confidentiality.
My journey into counselling began with a desire to help others navigate life's complexities. Over 2 years of experience, I have had the privilege of working with individuals from all backgrounds, helping them to achieve greater self-awareness, emotional resilience, and overall well-being.
I regularly engage in continuing professional development and supervision to ensure my practice remains current and effective. My commitment is to provide you with the highest quality of care and support.
What to Expect
Taking the first step into counselling can feel daunting, but I aim to make the process as comfortable and supportive as possible. Our initial session will be an opportunity for us to discuss what brings you to counselling, what you hope to gain, and for you to ask any questions you may have. It's also a chance for us to see if we can work well together.
Sessions are typically 50 minutes long and tailored to your needs.
My aim is to create a trusting and empathetic relationship where you can feel safe to explore your inner world without fear of judgment. Together, we can work towards understanding your challenges, developing coping strategies, and fostering personal growth.
Location / Online Sessions
I offer counselling sessions online and face to face, which provides you with a calm and confidential environment.
For those who prefer the convenience of remote sessions, I also provide secure online counselling via Zoom. This allows you to access support from the comfort of your own home.
